Our home from 31.07. to 04.08.2024:
We are delighted to be returning to the birthplace of the International Germany Meetings after twenty years.
Just like back then, we are now warmly welcomed back to the town and its campsite.
The campsite is located in the middle of the Vogelsberg Nature Park. For the animals in the nature park, flowering meadows, bushes and trees have been created in the centre of the camping park as a habitat for bees, butterflies and birds. On the hiking trail around the lake you will see interesting information about the animal world. Enjoy the diversity.
The site stretches halfway round the lake and is divided into an area for long-term campers and one for short-term guests. This is followed by a group area of over 20,000 m2.
These group areas are reserved for our meeting, so we have plenty of space.
The Indian restaurant in the camping park offers Far Eastern and local specialities; we recommend reserving a table.
The food at the snack bar and kiosk is a little more rustic. Here you can get bread rolls in the morning (also on site at meeting times), some newspapers, chilled drinks, everyday necessities, ice cream and, in addition to the obligatory chips, sausage and schnitzel specialities.
There is even a 24-hour drinks and chocolate vending machine near the entrance (although we assume that it will be empty all the time due to the high demand at our meeting).
There is also an adventure mini-golf course, beach volleyball, boat hire with various rental options and a few electric scooters for hire at the entrance.

ELVIS IS ALIVE!
In fact, the King of Rock 'n' Roll spent several weeks at Lake Gedern in 1959 as described in the newspaper article here. LINK ARTICLE).
A small memorial near the restaurant commemorates him.
We don't want to pull the wool over your eyes, but Elvis is alive.
It is a raccoon named after the master of the hip swing from the population that grew up in the region. Twenty years ago, 2CV drivers had the bitter experience that food placed under the Deuxchevaux to keep cool or unsuspectingly in awnings found friends at night...
Warning: raccoons are very tricky when it comes to obtaining food, so keep your supplies safe.
